The Mirror 05:07
Time turns taxa towards the truth with revelry Like a reflective simulation, a dichotomy In fields filled with modification and mercury Now a distorted image of change turned destiny To remove yourself from chemistry, bound to data, a constructed ecology Perfection lives in progress, in purity Phyla flies from instinct borne of centuries To turn away from progress borne of need And see the poison that drips from human leaves Come bathe in the altar of life Forms carved from the ancient design Wiped clean, shedding dolorous pride Born and drenched in the sonorous light Growing wide but artificial, not borne of soil Needless words like innovation pollute the source Trickling at the heart of every beat The flickering flames of man grown obsolete Gone away are the times of true progress, leaving only a system in distress Only shadows, becoming shadows Lingering shadows of man once bright
2.
The Helmsman 03:43
Just like waves we dance along the flow of life Steering slow but firmly on the course that’s been set so long ago For every storm fulfills a moment of discord Brings about a cleansing of sky With all the wind that rides upon the strength of the tides Until we need turn the hand, the corrective word spoken to all on earth It’s a warning and a sign It’s a verdict of what will live and what will die, exist and expire For quietly reigns the sky, above scattered seeds and upturned eyes So be swift, for even Hilda knows the call Of worship’s wash and blinding awe
3.
Rudderless 03:19
It’s all broken, just needless motion, the scene of man A looming omen of life once praised, now turned to sand Without the way the hands are apt to fall To selfish praise, erosion of the soul So all the motion, the innovation and pointless toil It’s all just pointless extenuation of poisoned soil “What kind of people are these? Do they ever think? Or do they only shuffle pointlessly over the earth?” - Franz Kafka Speaking the poison word of progress and path Developing nothing but greed, paths of ash For now the rudder is a god And in his absence you are lost Now all the motion, the pointless struggle to survive When things are broken from the beginning, motion’s a lie Was there a day when things just went awry Or were they broken the second they arrived?
4.
Drought 03:45
The ground grows strong within slowly parched paths of plague to come The cities fill forth in thickening heat, exothermic they seethe, breathing too deep So that the closer you come for the drops of life Orographic it bleeds, pressure rising inside Bringing carbon to bathe in the inertia of desire At the brink of a dream, flickering in a gleam of fiery eye So that when you look West at the waters of tides What salinity whispers your cracked lips can’t abide And from amidst the fields growing dry with cries Of falsity planted with a short sighted eye The prayers for rain are answered with skies Holding only disdain, a cloudless demise The drought will dry up all of the mire And push into light Homo Rodentia pronounced, the final design Shedding the flesh of desperate times The drought will purify the minds Of those who wish to sacrifice the trials Of perfect systems built to stand through time
5.
Luciferin 02:31
Anconitun Napellus holds from afar the brush of which the light is born Drawn to the glow but set aghast By the beauty and forecast of death Look forth and they shall know The shame that’s buried below As the day of false light dawns and sets in flame The eternal ember glows showing its true claim The wind shall turn with gentle coaxing of the sun And greeting all those planted sins Sows pentanes to conjure up flames Like warm breath upon your neck The great fire comes to collect
6.
Snapping and howling, rage rips across the world Immensity mounting as the flames grow and curl Holding more than destruction in its arms It’s a fire borne of abundance and brought on by disregard The fire grows greedy, feeding on the greed of the world It licks its lips with the last sip of mankind’s disgrace Now it tastes, tastes the same As it first did on the first day Planting lies, expecting grace And now they burn and feed the flames Of life decayed, burning bright and fading away
7.
Ash 04:28
They float in the air and glimmer in murky sun They dance along with the wind in beauty yet ominous See the fields empty and covered in grey The way, the light it plays In jest, to dissipate The death, its icy breath That lies on everything A suffocation that will not end for days They fall at the feet, those left to reap what they sow At the altar of grief dusted in would-be snow For now it must be that everything breathes the poisonous ashen smoke For even the leaves must take of their leave in order to bring new growth Achieved through purity So now in the air silence will reign once more Covering all with its song as ashes continue to fall But flickering, a bit of hope that gleams darkest before the dawn
8.
To pave the way a cleanse was made And what the fires brought was much more than a grave For the stage is set for the golden age We will reach new heights by death’s foundation laid Solemnly, bearing leaves, our glory will grow in a new image built from coal A tiny leaf that buds at dawn The birth of a savior to bring along A bloom of beauty from the ash of yesterday The ground will move and shifts take place That will open up in a great display To bathe in light, the dawn of a new day To crown the coming of a world for Nature’s sake No thorny wreath will grace our queen of the new world Spawns the kingdom of Elkinsia For now we breathe a virgin air That’s been purified by those who dared to stay the course The steady hand The patient heart The end that came... And now delivers us the right to maintain The throne that has always been for her now rightfully claimed Adorned with all the simple laws that she has come to proclaim A tiny leaf that buds at dawn The birth of a savior to bring along A bloom of beauty from her hand No thorny wreath will grace our queen of the new world Spawns the kingdom of Elkinsia

about

Based on the simple parable of growth, prominence, extinction and rebirth, "Ecosystem version B" begins with the notion that modern man has reached a point in which they are no longer on the natural path of progression, but are seemingly above it through technological advancement.

However, humankind has not only achieved this dominance in the wrong ways, but further, has actually ruined themselves with the misuse of fossils that were created by the Carboniferous period of earth, one of the most glorious eras for plant life and still quietly dictating the course of progression.

Although man has now forced the hand of the extinctive process, creating his own ultimate fire through climate disruption, advanced war, biochemical plague and self pollution, it will end in the same way: the earth seeing a great time of silence and cleansing followed by a period of rebirth.

Just as the first seeds began to emerge at the end of the Devonian age, a new Elkinsia is already among us, waiting to blossom on the day of the Budding Dawn.
